Freckle - Aftercare
Initial Days:
In the first few days post-treatment, your freckles will appear darker than expected. But don’t stress! Over the healing period the ink will lighten by about 30%. Some redness may linger, but if you've adhered to the aftercare instructions, it should be minimal. Expect some flakiness to begin around day 5; refrain from picking or itching as this can disrupt the healing process.
Disappearing Act:
As the days progress, don't be alarmed if your freckles seem to vanish before your eyes. This is a normal part of the healing process and usually happens around day 10-14. Remember, skin heals from the inside out, so while your tattoos may appear hidden beneath fresh skin, they're diligently working their magic underneath. It can take 4-6 weeks for them to fully reappear, typically around day 21-28.
Daily Care Routine:
Day One: During the first 24 hours post-treatment, it's essential to delicately manage any lymph fluid that may emerge. Use a moistened cotton pad to gently wipe away any fluid, ensuring the treated area remains clean and free from excess moisture.
Day Two: Begin washing the area morning and night with a gentle, scent-free cleanser. Pat dry with a clean, lint-free paper towel.
Days Three to Fourteen: Continue washing twice daily and follow up with a thin layer of aftercare. Your freckles might start flaking around this time. This is completely normal. Don’t scratch or pull on the scabbing. Avoid sweating, swimming, and active skincare during this time.
Important Do's & Don'ts:
Only touch the treated area with freshly cleaned hands: Remember, your fresh freckles are a wound for your body. Minimize the risk of infection by ensuring your hands are clean before touching the treated area.
Avoid sweating for a week: Excessive sweating can lead to pigment displacement or infection.
No swimming/soaking for 3 weeks after your appointment: Immersion in water can disrupt the healing process and affect the appearance of freckles. Refrain from soaking the treated area during this time.
Avoid sun exposure: Protect your new freckles from UV rays for at least two weeks post-treatment.
Skip makeup on and around the area until the flaking period has stopped: Applying makeup can interfere with the healing process and may lead to uneven results. Wait until the flaking period has ceased before resuming makeup application.
Handle with care: Refrain from using heavy cleansers for the first 10 days and avoid using active ingredients or peelings for the first 4 weeks of healing to ensure proper healing and optimal results.
Long-Term Maintenance:
For long-lasting results, consider these tips:
Use a high SPF sunscreen to protect your freckles from fading due to sun exposure.
Avoid laser treatments directly over the treated area to prevent pigment damage.
Inform medical professionals about your semi-permanent tattoo before undergoing procedures like chemical peels or MRIs.
Schedule annual touch-up treatments to keep your freckles looking fresh, especially if you have oily skin.
