TATTOO AFTERCARE
No matter what method is applicable to you, make to only touch your tattoo with clean hands during the healing process and avoid swimming, sun bathing and saunas for at least 4 weeks. Refrain from excercise in the first couple of days after the appointment and make sure clothing doesn’t rub against the tattoo/second skin.
SECOND SKIN
Leave the second skin bandage on for 3-7 days. ***If you experience any irritation / itchiness / burning or redness around the bandage - this could be an allergic reaction to the adhesive - remove the bandage immediately ((but gently))***
Remove the second skin bandage gently and slowly. Pull as you go - keeping close to the skin, trying to avoid tugging at the tattooed area. This is easier if you do it right after showering.
Clean the tattooed area gently with a mild, unscented soap and warm water - make sure all residue/adhesive is cleaned off.
Pat down the tattoo with a clean paper towel to dry. Let it air dry completely.
After taking off the film, the tattoo should be flat / dry and start flaking lightly. It will be dry for the first 2 weeks after taking off the bandage.
Apply a thin layer of tattoo ointment 2x a day until it's fully settled into the skin.
Most tattoos are completely healed after 1 month. Use sunscreen on your exposed tattoos to protect them in the long run.
*** If you've taken off your second skin bandage before the 3-4th days due to irritation or bc it's pealed off; you can now proceed with the DRY HEALING instructions***
CLING WRAP / DRY HEALING
Leave the cling wrap on your tattoo for at least 3hrs - or until you get home.
Clean off plasma/blood on the tattoo area with mild soap and warm water.
Pat down the tattoo with a clean paper towel. Let it air dry.
Wrap up your tattoo with cling wrap before going to bed so you dont bleed or stick to your sheets.
Repeat steps 2 , 3 and 4 after showers/before getting dressed and before bed for the next week - or until your tattoo develops a scab.
Only start applying a thin layer of tattoo ointment 2x a day once there is a solid scab formed. Do this until it's fully settled into the skin.
Most tattoos are completely healed after 1 month. Use sunscreen on your exposed tattoos to protect them in the long run.
